Work order statuses and close-out
What each status means, and what a good close-out captures for the asset's history.
Work orders move through a lifecycle — open → assigned → in progress → completed → closed. Status changes write to the asset's history automatically.
Closing is where the value lands: what you found, what you did, and what it cost in parts and time. Future diagnosis starts from these records.
- Close-out done properly
- Failure code — pick the cause so repeat failures become visible in reporting.
- Time on task — actual hours, not scheduled.
- Parts used — pulls stock down and puts the cost on the asset.
- Follow-up — raise the next work order or request if the job isn't finished.
