What is a rotable (repairable) part?
Expensive components you refurbish and reuse instead of scrapping.
A rotable is an expensive component that cycles through use → removal → refurbishment → back to stock: motors, pumps, gearboxes, hydraulic cylinders. Each serialised unit carries its own history and cost.
Rotables need serial tracking, not bin quantities: which unit is on the asset, which is in repair, which is on the shelf. It changes both inventory accounting and how overhaul history attaches to the individual unit.
