What is the P-F curve?
The window between a detectable fault and functional failure — where condition monitoring lives.
The P-F curve describes asset degradation: point P is where a fault first becomes detectable (a vibration signature, a heat spot), point F is functional failure. The P-F interval is your warning window.
Each monitoring technique detects faults at a different point on the curve — oil analysis earliest, then ultrasonics, vibration, then touchable heat. Choosing the right technique is choosing how much warning you get.
