What is a cycle count?
Counting a slice of stock continuously instead of one annual wall-to-wall.
A cycle count audits a small rotating slice of inventory on a schedule — fast movers and criticals often, slow items rarely — instead of shutting down for an annual stocktake. Discrepancies get investigated immediately.
Sustained count accuracy above ~97% is what lets planning trust the system: when the count is reliable, you can kit confidently and stop hoarding 'just in case' stock at the bench.
