What is a CMMS?
Computerized Maintenance Management System — the system of record for maintenance work.
A CMMS is software that manages maintenance operations: the asset register, work orders, preventive schedules, spare parts and the history of every job. It replaces spreadsheets, paper job cards and tribal knowledge.
Planners raise and schedule work orders in the CMMS, technicians close them from the field, and every job writes to the asset's history — which is what makes reporting, costing and reliability analysis possible.
