What is an asset hierarchy?
The structured tree — site, line, machine, component — that maintenance data hangs off.
An asset hierarchy is the organised tree of everything you maintain: site → area → line → machine → component. Every work order, cost and failure rolls up through it, so reporting works at any level.
Without a consistent hierarchy, downtime and cost data can't be compared between assets or sites. Getting the structure right once is what makes every later report trustworthy.
